Spiced Apple Pie Waffle Sundaes

Ingredients

3 large Granny Smith apples, peeled, cored, and cut into 1.5cm wedges

80ml apple cider or apple juice

75g packed light brown sugar

30g plain flour

1 tbsp fresh lemon juice

3/4 tsp ground cinnamon

1/2 tsp kosher salt

1 tbsp unsalted butter

1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Nonstick cooking spray

8 tsp white sugar

Accompaniments: Vanilla ice cream and caramel sauce

Description

Makes: 4 Waffles

Prep Time: 20 Minutes, plus 15 minutes macerating time

Cook Time: 20 minutes, plus 8 minutes per waffle

Method

Step 1

In large bowl, toss apples with apple cider, brown sugar, flour, lemon juice, cinnamon, and salt, to coat. Set aside for 15 minutes, or until juices form.

Step 2

  1. In medium induction-friendly frying pan on the Inducto Go Portable Induction Cooktop, cook apple mixture, stirring occasionally, for 20 minutes, or until apples are softened and juices have thickened over medium heat. Add butter and vanilla and stir to combine. Remove from heat and cool slightly.

Step 3

Meanwhile, preheat oven to 95°C. Place wire rack over large sheet pan and place pan in oven.

Step 4

Preheat Fill N’ Flip Waffle Press for 3 minutes, or until green ready light turns on.

Step 5

Lightly spray lower and upper plates with cooking spray. Pour 125ml batter into lower plate. Top with 80ml apple mixture then another 80ml batter. Sprinkle 2 tsp white sugar over batter.

Step 6

Close lid and cook waffle for 8 minutes, or until golden. Carefully remove waffle and transfer to oven to keep warm while preparing more waffles.

Serve waffles with ice cream and caramel sauce.
