Curtis Stone Air Fryer FAQs
How do I use my air fryer for the very first time?
Before cooking your first meal, we recommend running the air fryer empty at 200°C for 20 minutes (or simply use the Fries preset). This burns off any manufacturing residue and is completely normal — you may notice a slight smell or light smoke. Just make sure your kitchen is well ventilated, and you're good to go!
Do I need to use oil?
One of the best things about air frying is that you need very little — or even no — oil at all! If you'd like extra crispiness, a light mist of oil over your food does the trick beautifully. Think golden, crunchy results with a fraction of the fat of traditional frying.
Can I cook a whole chicken in this air fryer?
Yes! The 6L capacity is generous enough to handle a whole chicken up to 1.6kg. Simply use the Whole Chicken preset, which is set to 200°C for 50 minutes. Cooking times may vary slightly depending on the size of your bird, so always check it's cooked through before serving.
How do I know when to shake or turn my food during cooking?
The air fryer does the reminding for you! It will beep halfway through the cooking cycle to let you know it's time to give your food a shake or a turn. This is especially helpful for things like fries, nuggets, and veggies — it ensures everything cooks evenly and gets that perfect crunch all over.
Can I put the basket and crisper plate in the dishwasher?
Yes, both the Air Fry Basket and Crisper Plate are dishwasher safe. However, to keep the non-stick coating in top condition for longer, hand washing in warm soapy water is recommended. Also avoid placing them on the bottom rack of the dishwasher, as the intense heat can wear down the coating over time.
What's the Delay Start function and is it safe to use?
The Delay Start function lets you schedule your cooking to begin up to 6 hours later — great for timing meals around a busy day! Simply select your preset, set your delay time (in 10-minute increments), and press Start. One important note: avoid using this function with raw or perishable foods like meat, as leaving them unrefrigerated can pose a food safety risk.
My air fryer is showing an error code — what do I do?
Don't panic! Most error codes (E01–E04) can be resolved simply by unplugging the unit, waiting 10–30 seconds, and plugging it back in. If the issue keeps coming back, please complete the form on this page found above the FAQs and customer service will get you sorted!
Can I reheat leftovers in the air fryer?
Absolutely — and it does a fantastic job! Just press the Reheat button, which defaults to 165°C for 10 minutes. You can adjust both the temperature and time to suit whatever you're warming up. Say goodbye to soggy microwave leftovers!
How much space do I need around the air fryer when using it?
Always leave at least 10–15cm of clear space around the sides, back, and top of the unit. The air fryer releases hot air through the rear vents during cooking, so proper clearance is important both for performance and safety. Never place anything on top of the unit while it's in use.
What is the warranty on this air fryer, and what does it cover?
Your Curtis Stone 6L Air Fryer comes with a 24-month warranty covering defects in workmanship and materials under normal household use. To make a claim, you'll need your original proof of purchase (a receipt showing the item, date, and price). For any warranty queries, please complete the form found on this page above the FAQs. Note that the warranty applies to household use only — commercial use is not covered.
What should I do if I see dark smoke coming from the unit?
If dark smoke appears, unplug the air fryer immediately. Wait for the smoke to stop completely before attempting to remove the Air Fry Basket. Once safe, check the tray for grease or oil buildup — this is the most common cause. Clean the unit thoroughly before using again.
What are the 8 cooking presets and what do they do?
The air fryer comes with 8 handy presets to take the guesswork out of cooking. Each has a pre-set temperature and time: Fries (200°C, 23 min, 500g), Steak (200°C, 10 min, 230g/1 inch thick), Whole Chicken (200°C, 50 min, 1.6kg), Fish (175°C, 12 min, 4 fillets at 100g each), Vegetables (150°C, 8 min, 200g), Bacon (180°C, 8 min, 125g), Prawns (180°C, 10 min, 300g), and Chicken Drumsticks (200°C, 28 min, 500g). You can adjust both temperature and time on any preset before or during cooking.
Can I adjust the preset temperature and time, or am I locked into the defaults?
Great news — you're never locked in! You can adjust both the temperature and cooking time on any preset, either before you start cooking or during the cooking process, using the Setting Buttons. So the presets are simply a helpful starting point, giving you full flexibility to cook food exactly the way you like it.
